Who do you belong to?

I belong to God. But I forget a lot and have to be reminded. Which is tricky, because most of the time I don’t know I’ve forgotten. Connecting with those who remind me who I am is part of the reason I write. Writing forces me into words and I learn more by what I leave out of my writing as by what I put in. When what I write doesn't make sense, I have to search deeper to see what is too big to restrict to words. My art speaks where words fail.
This image, named The Divine Trinity is an example. With watercolor and ink I’ve reduced the Divine Trinity to the most rudimentary of forms. Jesus Christ, God's sacrificed son, is represented as transformative water, cupped by The Heavenly Father’s metaphorically rendered hands. The whimsical angel -- "whimsical" compared to the majestic beings described in the Bible -- embodies the Holy Spirit as the languishing saint is being immersed in newness of life. Bear in mind, this image is not meant as an inerrant, theological statement, but rather as a simplistic artistic expression of what it has meant for me to experience God’s ongoing triune protection, healing and transformation.
Who do you belong to?

So true...
